Personal trainer in Sandbach

1-to-1 personal training at Bodypower, Sandbach

Train with me in the gym and you never have to guess whether you're doing it right or doing enough. Between sessions, your food targets, a weekly progress report, a direct line to me and your own private training app keep the rest of your week pulling in the same direction, so the work you put in shows up in the mirror. This suits people who know what they should do but keep losing the thread by week three.

What a week looks like

An example with two sessions. The sessions are the visible bit. Most of the coaching happens in between.

  1. Session one

    The main lifts

I check your technique and record your progress, so you always have a clear direction and a target to beat next time. Watching those numbers climb can have your confidence building even within the first couple of weeks.

  2. Midweek

    A message from me

And you message me whenever something comes up, like a meal out you'd rather plan for than panic about.

  3. Session two

    Different day, different work

Built around the time you've got and any injuries, with express options for the weeks that go sideways, so a hectic week slows you down a bit instead of stopping you in your tracks (or even pushing you backwards).

  4. End of the week

    Your check-in

You send me your wins, your biggest struggle and your measurements, and I reply within 24 hours. You start each week knowing what's working and exactly what to focus on next.

You can train with me anywhere from once a week up to five times a week. We'll decide on the call, based on your diary, your budget and how confident you feel training on your own.

2 years+

is how long my in-person clients stay with me on average. Some have been with me for more than ten years.

"The sessions are not too pushy or overly intense but you know you have worked out and the results soon show."
Mike, 55, Arclid
"I asked Tom to help me get in better shape for my wedding and it was the best decision I made."
Kelsey, 28, Sandbach

This is for you if

  • You've done the diets, lost the weight and found it again
  • You want to lift weights properly and have someone watching your form
  • Your week has work, kids or shifts in it, and weekends you'd like to keep
  • You want to understand why you're doing things, so you can carry on without me

Probably not for you if

  • You want a meal plan and to be left alone with it
  • You'd rather not tell anyone when a week goes wrong
  • You're after someone to shout at you across the gym. That's not how I coach.

In-person client · years of back problems

Kirsty lost 26kg and started competing

She'd been told she might never lift weights again because of her back. We started with a thorough assessment and built up gradually. She's since deadlifted 115kg in competition and entered her first strongwoman event.

Questions about 1-to-1

I'm nervous about going into a gym

Most people are at the start. It's a bit like your first drive after passing your test: you're sure everyone's watching, then halfway round you realise nobody is, and half of them can't drive either. You'll be with me, and we start with whatever you're comfortable doing.

How long is a session?

Typically 45 minutes to an hour.

What if I miss a session?

Life happens. We don't try to cram two sessions into one to make up for it. If you've only got 20 minutes, doing the first couple of exercises still gets you most of the benefit.

Do you only train people for fat loss?

Fat loss is where most people start. Once they're there, plenty move on to getting stronger or building muscle, and we plan the next phase before the current one ends.

Come and have a chat at the gym

20 minutes at Bodypower, on Zoom or by phone. You'll come away knowing which option I'd pick for you and what it costs, and if coaching isn't the right thing for you, I'll tell you.
